Isthar is a Dutch-German dark metal band with its roots in the black, death and doom metal scene.

Since the founding of Isthar back in 1997, Isthar released four CD’s, ‘Isthar’ (1998), ‘The Weak Will Perish’ (2000), ‘Among The Ruins’ (2006) and 'Chaos Death Reincarnation' (2009). The last two led to many very positive reviews in both national and international metal webzines and magazines.

Isthar has been on stage with e.g. Shining, Gorgoroth, Onslaught and Graveworm.

Isthar, the Mesopotamian goddess of creation and destruction, symbolizes the dualism of life itself. Therefore it stands for the complete, both musical and lyrical, concept.
